The AL EID FOOD CO. (AFCO) announced on Wednesday that it will begin selling 'Al Waha products, such as Power Mix and Eat an Orange, in addition to many other new brands. Company officials hope the addition of these products will be a step towards getting listed on the Kuwait Stock Exchange.

AFCO imports, distributes, packages and markets food and consumer products. Over the past 12 years, the Company has grown aggressively. When it started the company was a simple distributor, but now it develops its own brands and markets a variety of other products, including dry goods, frozen goods and juice. "The vision of the company is to become the leading company in importing and distributing of food stuffs. We want our employees, clients, competitors, suppliers and investors to consider us as one of the best companies in Kuwait," said Mohammed Al Mutairi, AFCO's General Manager.

The company depends on increasing its distribution channels and offering a variety of high quality products from well-known trade agencies. "Our strategy is to make the company establish its own market and adopt a distinctive and competitive service that is not available from our competitors. This allows the company to cut costs and consequently offer a competitive price that helps attract new clients and results in aggressive growth and high profits," added Al Mutairi.

The company has outlined many future plans, including one to keep abreast of the developments in the food manufacturing industry. "It plans to provide new products and service in the field of marketing, distributing and developing of new way and methods of preservation and storage. In addition, the company is obtaining new agencies from regional and international companies in order to cover new markets and focus on its growth and economic status," said Khalid Baghdadi, Chairman of the National Factory.

The company is also happy to supply Kuwait with three new products, "Mango Float," "Eat and Orange," and "Power Mix" an energy drink. "Some of these are unique products, available for the first time in Kuwait. We intend to occupy 10 per cent of the Kuwaiti market in the first year, and hope to increase it to 20% in two years," said Mohammad Luis, Marketing Manager of the National Factory.

These products have competitive prices. "I think these products will enrich the Kuwaiti market. No other brands offer many of our new products. Additionally all our products have safe ingredients. We have heard that some other famous energy drink contains dangerous materials, but these materials are not included in Power Mix," said Mohammed Amer Al Mutairi Chairman of the Cooperative Society Union.

The Danish products available in the co-ops are now all manufactured in the KSA. "The ban on Danish products will continue. The Danish products available are Danish in name only and they are produced in the KSA" he added.
